If you’ve been wondering whether the legal challenges you face at work constitute a legal issue, we’re here to help. The Working Women’s Centre Victoria provides free legal help, advice and representation to working women and non-binary people across Victoria. Whether you’re facing discrimination, unfair treatment, or any other legal issues in your professional life, the Working Women’s Centre Victoria is here to help.
Despite progress over the past 50 years for women at work, women and non-binary people are still more likely to experience harassment, discrimination and unfair treatment at work. The Working Women’s Centre Victoria is fighting to change that. Our launch marks a significant step forward in the fight for true gender equality in the workplace.
What legal issues do we help with?
Sometimes workplace issues can become legal issues. For example, if you find yourself suddenly fired without reason, you might have experienced what’s legally called “unlawful termination”. If you’re being bullied at work, it’s not just unpleasant – it may be illegal. You have a right to feel safe and secure at your place of work. Our lawyers can help you understand your rights and what you can do.
We provide legal help with workplace issues like:
- Sexual harassment
- Discrimination
- Parental leave
- Workplace bullying
- Not being paid properly
- Unfair dismissal, or being unfairly fired
- Family violence (needing leave from work, or when it impacts your work)
- Sham contracting (being treated as a contractor while working as an employee)
If you’re experiencing one or more of the above issues at your workplace, you may benefit from legal help. Whether you’re looking to get back the money you’re owed, receive compensation for unfair dismissal, or just want to better understand your rights, we can help.
