Are you working in Victoria on a temporary visa? The Working Women’s Centre Victoria is here to help you. We give free legal help to women and non-binary people who have legal problems at work. It doesn’t matter what kind of visa you have – we can still help you.

We are not part of the government, and you won’t get in trouble for asking us for help. Our lawyers are ready to help you for free. We will keep everything you tell us private.

You have rights at work

Everyone has rights at work in Australia. This includes you. Your rights are:

  • A safe place to work
  • Fair pay
  • No unfair treatment
  • Time off when you need it

It’s okay if you don’t know all about your rights. We can help you learn.

We‘re here to help

At the Working Women’s Centre Victoria, we provide legal help for workplace issues. Many work-related problems aren’t just unfair, they are illegal. We can help with:

  • Sexual harassment, including sexual jokes and comments
  • Discrimination
  • Parental leave
  • Workplace bullying
  • Not getting paid what you are owed
  • Unfair dismissal, or being unfairly fired
  • Taking time off because of family violence
  • Sham contracting (being treated as a contractor while working as an employee)

If you have any of these problems at work, we can help you. Our help is free and confidential. You can call us on 1800 992 842 or visit our website to get help. We’re here to make sure you’retreated fairly at work.

It’s safe to ask for help

Do you have questions about your pay? Are you worried about something at work? Our lawyers provide free and confidential legal help. You won’t be punished for asking for help and we are not affiliated with the government or the police.

We can arrange an interpreter

Don’t worry if you don’t speak English well. We can get someone to help you in your language.

Your visa is safe too

You have a right to be safe at work, even if you’re not an Australian citizen. Asking for help won’t hurt your visa. It is safe to ask us for help.
